About Paloma

I am a New Yorker. I am currently based in Arnhem. I have spent almost eight years working as an agro-ecological farmer.  I am now co-owner of a farm in the Gelderland region.

While tending to the relationship to land, the (dis)connection to the body continued to feel like a missing link in my work.

Heeding the call to build a connection and a vocabulary of the body, in 2023 I began my shiatsu studies first in Barcelona at Movement shiatsu and then in 2024 I transferred to complete my four-year HBO program at the Zen Shiatsu School Amsterdam, led by Joyce Vlaarkamp. As of 2026, I am currently in my third year of training.

I understand the body is never a neutral place to be. The body is shaped- shaped by cultural conditioning, experiences trauma, politics. Shiatsu is a technique that allows us to get familiar with our bodies of knowledge, listen and respond to pain, and find our center (hara). The feeling of balance that modalities of Chinese medicine can bring is not about seeking feigned perfection nor feigned purity. This medicine allows ourselves to be with the complexity of who we each are and where we are.

To be in relationship to one’s center (hara) while facing the weather is a gesture towards collective liberation. The shiatsu I offer is therefore political and trauma-informed. I can conduct sessions in English and Spanish.
